Hair color and Pregnancy...
In most cases color is not recommended while pregnant due to hormonal changes, which can affect your hair and skin, or due to chemical aromas that women are sensitive to while pregnant. I use a very gentle, ammonia free color; Farouk Systems Biosilk and Bioglitz color, Sunglitz, Color Visions, and CHI lighteners. Being ammonia free means the colors and lighteners have a pleasant fragrance rather than taking your breath away with fumes. Also without ammonia the color is more hypo allergenic causing less irritation. If irritation is an issue you could always do off the scalp techniques like foiling or being pulled through a highlighting cap.

How do well water, Medications, and/or hormones affect hair color?
Anything you take orally will show up in your hair. Anything that you have around your hair on a daily basis, such as smoke or well water, will leave a coating on your hair. These things can cause a multitude of problems if they are unknown to your colorist. They can cause an off tone result, or even prevent the color from taking properly. To remove most coatings on hair a demineralizing treatment can be performed, most often this takes care of any problem that could arise. With medications, however, that is a part of your hair and needs the correct color formula, so please always tell us what you may be taking or are around.

Why does color fade?
Medication/Hormones
Hot water/well or country water
Not using a type of thermal protectant like Silk Therapy
The porosity or condition of the hair
Shampooing too often, it is best to shampoo at most every other day
There will always be better results if you use a color maintenance system

When do I need to get a touch up?
Any where between 4-10 week. The greater the difference between your natural color and the color you choose to keep will decide how long you can go. The faster your hair grows the sooner you will need a touch up. There is also a personal preference as to how long you will wait to get a touch up.

How much does is cost?
The cost will vary depending on influencing factors such as: Length, density (how much hair you have) which service you need, and what your personal preference is. There is a comprehensive price list on my services page that will give you prices for each service with a guide for length and density increases.

Will it cost this much each time?
If you come in and need a color retouch then it will be less expensive. If you come in and your ends have faded then it will be the same cost. With Highlights you can get away with just doing partial foils twice before needing a full foil again. This does save you some money. When highlighting with foils, it is the same cost it would be if you were foiling for the first time or just doing a touch up. The reason is that you are going through the exact same process and it takes the same amount of time, if not more, to do a touch up.

Will my red fade?
